Job Description : Schedule: 48 hours per two:week pay period, variable hours, including every 6th weekend.

Position will be working within the Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital.

Job Summary: Provides pastoral care, counsel, education and spiritual/emotional support to patients, families and staff members of all faiths and traditions.

Job Requirements:
o Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in Theology with concentration in pastoral care required
o One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in a hospital setting required; four units CPE preferred
o Two years experience in providing pastoral care required.
o Ordination/commissioning and endorsement for chaplaincy by own religious judicatory
o Board certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains or cognate organization preferred

Other: Demonstrated ability to relate to persons from varied religious, socio:economic, cultural, educational and ethnic backgrounds. Basic working knowledge of medical ethics and terminology. Ability to lead, monitor and contribute to small:group processes.

Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Self directed. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality. Ability to listen to others. Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
